Carers Week 2018 'Healthy & Connected'

< Back

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities.
This Carers Week, we’re coming together to support the health and wellbeing of carers in Highland. Around 32,000 people in Highland are carers, looking after a parent, partner, child or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older.

Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience but sometimes carers find it challenging to take care of their own well-being whilst caring. The impact of caring on health and well-being should not be underestimated.
This Carers week Connecting Carers will be hosting events that we hope will help carers to stay Healthy and Connected. We’re inviting carers to join us for lunch or afternoon tea to discuss ways in which the team at Connecting Carers and the services we offer can help carers in the future.   We’d also like to hear what carers think about the new Adult Carer Support Plan - does it work, how could it be improved and carers experiences of completing it.
Lots of charities are involved in making Carers Week a reality and bring different specialisms and a shared goal of helping carers get the information and support they need.
