Advice on welfare support and benefits

Getting the benefits you’re entitled to

If you are struggling financially you may be entitled to support to help you in your caring role. One in four Carers suffers from financial worries, causing stress and anxiety. Connecting Carers work in partnership with experts on Income Maximisation and how to get the benefits you are entitled to, including access to the Carers Allowance.

Highland Council has a dedicated team offering advice on benefits and welfare support. Find out more here. Their essential guide to benefits, money advice, energy advice and other support is available here. If you are unsure which benefits you might be eligible for, use the handy calculator from Turn2Us. Alternatively you can use the benefits calculator from entitledto.co.uk, produced in partnership with the Scottish Government.

You can also contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau. Find the one closest to you by visiting their website https://www.cas.org.uk/. Citizens Advice are a great resource and a one-stop shop where you can speak to knowledgeable people about your situation and how to apply for benefits.

You can access information on all the benefits and supports available in the UK here.
