Connecting Carers is hosting a free event for unpaid carers in Highland to gather your views on the proposed changes to social security payments for carers at Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness on Thursday 20 October 2016 from 11.00 am.

NHS inform  is Scotland's national health information service offering a telephone and online information resource at www.nhsinform.scot.  

NHS Inform recognise that nothing stands still and since the original design of the NHS inform website in 2010, people are now looking for a different experience when seeking health information on-line. There is much more focus around self-management, health and wellbeing and support of individuals with long-term conditions.

"Introduction to CSB as a method to lower stress levels".   Morag Brown will be hostng this great free event on the 11th of October at 6.30pm in Thurso.  Venue to be confirmed based on demand.

Carers News has a new look, a new size and is packed with updates on activities, new team members, fundraising, events, Young Carers and what's happening in Highland.

Connecting Young Carers News

The must read publication  for Young Carers in Highland is out now, complete with a round up of all this summer's activities and dates for forthing events just for Young Carers.

The Young Carer team have been out and about, all over the Highlands, making movies, throwing themselves into the sea, toasting marshallows around bonfires and generally having a great time with Young Carers who were having a break from their caring roles.

Making the Highlands Carer Award

Highlands & Islands Enterprise Wins Carer Positive Award.

Highlands & Islands Enterprise (HIE) recently became only the second organisation in Highland to receive the Carer Positive Award from Sue McLintock of Carer Scotland.

Support Line Hours Extended

New opening hours for support hotline. 

From Thursday 6th October 2016 the Connecting Carers support line (01463 723560) will be open from 5 - 7 pm and every Thursday from then on.

Nairn Relaxation Walk - 10.30 am Wednesday 28 September 2016

An event for unpaid carers in the Nairn area starting at 10.30 am. Come along and meet other carers, have a walk, with some added mindfulness, returning for coffee and cake by the harbour.

Unpaid carers benefit from reduced Highlife Highland membership scheme

The value of exercise in improving mental health is well known and as unpaid carers often have increased demands on their physical and mental health, this scheme is proving very popular with 30 unpaid carers joining the scheme in the first six months.
